Ugh. Awake way too early. Got a performance in Springfield, VA in a few
hours and set the alarm to get me up in time to get ready, knowing that
I'd be moving in slow motion from not enough sleep. Problem is that I also
had trouble getting to sleep last night, and just as I finally did so, one
of those not-quite-cramps in my calf woke me right back up again.
Gonna be an interesting day. This gig is a demo for an elementary school;
I don't really like to have this group represented by fewer than six
musicians but because it's during a workday there'll only be two of us;
and for dancers we'll be mixing folks from two other groups with our own.
No joint rehearsals until about half an hour before the show. Wheee!
But somehow these things always seem to work out. I guess I've arranged
things so I get to play with some pretty darned skilled people, people who
can make it work on the fly, in the face of "this isn't how it's supposed
to be done" circumstances.
With luck we'll finish up before rush hour and I'll have time to run a
few errands on the way home. With *real* luck my fibromyalgia will be
controllable enough despite the sleep disruption that I'll be *able* to
run those errands. (Gotta pick up some prescriptions; want to detour
into Adams Morgan to throw some CDs at a record store.; ought to pick up
groceries too.)
Okay, time to experiment a little and then go grab some wake-up food and
a shower. Wondering what LiveJournal does with embedded HTML submitted
using 'clive'...
The group that's performing today is
Thrir Venstri Foetr,
and the band with the CD I'm pushing is
The Homespun Ceilidh
Band.
