I'm not sure whether there's a length limit on email composed
on my cell phone or not, but it stopped accepting characters at
the point where my last post stopped.
Anyhow, I noticed that my reaction time was badly compromised,
my peripheral vision wasn't being too useful (I didn't have tunnel
vision, but stuff in my peripheral vision was somehow just not
registering right), my depth perception was strange, my
concentration was shot, and this grey, overcast day was Too [Expletive]ing
Bright for my eyes. At the same time, I was experiencing truly distracting
shoulder pain, and my right knee, as I mentioned, was painful -- also
slow, which may have been an effect of the pain -- which made
working the gas and brake pedals a little awkward.
So I spent a few hours in the parking lot of an office park near
an exit off of I-97 with a towel over my face and the radio playing
very softly, discovering just how far my front seat reclines and
trying to find a comfortable position for my leg, until I felt well
enough that I didn't think I'd be an utter menace on the highway.
Kind of killed my afternoon, y'know? Never did make it to Bowie --
my brother is being very understanding.
Tomorrow afternoon,
The Homespun
Ceilidh Band is performing at the Virginia Scottish Games in
Alexandria (15:00-ish in the Fiddle Tent), and I'm giving one of
my bandmates a ride, so I've got to feel better by then.
Probably going to bed early tonight.
