Yesterday I got out to do things that Must Be Done Before Other Things, and that was enough to completely wipe me out. I thought I was doing well, and was prepared to proceed on to visit [livejournal.com profile] anniemal (whom I've been trying to get to for the past couple of weeks but keep getting busy with sudden urgent stuff or too tired to drive), drop off Perrine, go to HCB rehearsal, then go back to Virginia to spend a couple of days ...

Instead I found my brain and body gradually shutting down, left email saying I wasn't going to make it to VA and other email saying I would get to rehearsal late, and just sat, trying to rest enough to be up to driving an hour to Gaithersburg. By 20:30 I was giving up, and feeling extremely frustrated. All the more so given that I'd been expecting to see [livejournal.com profile] anniemal and that this was the last rehearsal before our concert Saturday, so I needed to run through some duets and make sure they're performance-ready. I'm not sure whether there'll be a chance to work on them Saturday afternoon or not.

Today's better. I got out of the house later than planned, and noticed the gradual slide into exhaustion starting while I was driving, but I'm in Virginia now, Perrine did not throw up in the car this time (notes on what I did differently later). And though I'm annoyed at some of what my body is doing right now, at least I got here. Now to rest, and maybe we'll actually do something later on.

I wonder whether my current breathing trouble is making this fatigue worse. My athsma has been persistently just enough to notice for the past few days. I'm assuming it's because of pollen.

Which reminds me: on my block there is what looks for all the world like the remains of a tree explosion ... except for the presence of an intact tree in the middle of it. Something with dark red flowers with small petals. There's a neat pattern as though they're soot and ash from, oh, some bizarre cartoon flowerbomb. Thinking logically I can picture the petals falling a few at a time and landing that way, but it's hard to chase the cartoon explosion sequence out of my head to do so.
