"Four short years ago, the Census Bureau issued a long-overdue apology for allowing government data to be used to round up tens of thousands of Japanese Americans, who were interned. Here we are at the trailhead of a troubled path. Again." -- Robert L. Jamieson Jr., in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 2004-08-04, regarding news that the Census Bureau has been asked to tell the Department of Homeland Security where Muslim Americans and Americans of Arab heritage live.

Still all fumbly. Fortunately the only casualty so far today has been peanut butter. Annoyed at my body. Too tired to reach for stand-up-comedy-whining so I'll leaven this with just a small observation instead: a huge glob of peanut butter hanging off my thumb after falling off the knife feels really odd.

(And yes, that does take into account some of my past odd experiences with peanut butter.)

((And no, today's peanut butter isn't crunchy.))
