Finally made it to free clinic (
anniemal dragged
me out of bed and drove me there --
john_tangent had
also offered to take me, but I've had a lot of trouble managing
to feel well enough to go to the doctor (irony #1)). Followups
will be easier -- new patients have to show up at 8:15 AM, but
my next visit will be a noon appointment. Got
note for Jury Commisioner. Got samples of Singulair. Got appt.
for blood tests & physical exam next month. Better communication
than at my old HMO; saw signs that portend better care, too, which
will be an ironic commentary on health care in the US if
these omens tell true (irony #2).
Got home around 14:00, very very tired, very achy, and
with painfull hypersensitivity to low frequencies. Gonna
lie down & not count on getting much else done. But wheels
are finally in motion.
Of the free clinics operated by the city, the Men's Health
Center was the only one where the description of the target
population seemed to include me (irony #3); I wound up explaining
the terms 'intergendered" and "genderqueer" to the NP who saw
me. She didn't have any problem with that, but did seem amused
at the juxtaposition of concepts presented by an intergendered
person coming to a men's clinic.
Thinking slowly, typing slowly, better lie down now.
