You have the only toll bridge over a torrent river. Artists are on one side, consumers on another. You let people pass in small quantities for exhuberant prices. Consumers and artists have to pay YOU to get the works distributed.
Then a dam dries up the river and people can cross anywhere. Gone is your bussiness.
Now you get the governement to cover the river bed with land-mines on some pretext. Now your toll-bridge earns you money again.
That is DRM. Landmines in a dry river bed to protect a toll bridge.
