Last night I found the scent of cooking beef ... very reassuring.
Yah, I'm a vegetarian. To me it's a neutral, not-food smell. It's not appetizing (though neither is it disgusting -- it was that for a few months many years ago when I hadn't been vegetarian for very long yet, but now it's pretty much neutral most of the time).
So, not appetizing but still reassuring? Yes, because once the scent of the cooking of cowmeat arrived, I could finally stop trying to guess whether the smoke I'd been smelling was one of the adjacent houses on fire.
No, it was just the next-door neighbours having a cookout in their back yard. *whew*
No water heater yet, but one of the plumbers I'd attempted to contact did call me back to tell me a ballpark figure for what the job ought to cost and to refer me to one of his friends because he was too busy. "Water heaters are my specialty, but I just started a job that'll keep me busy the whole week, so let me give you the number of another guy..."
In the meantime, I just got worrisome news regarding the health of a family member. Argh. (Not sure how public to be with the info yet. But that much is enough to let y'all know some of what's on my mind.
Back to the clinic this morning ...
