"Yesterday I saw a deodorant that included glitter in the mix.
I'm quite sure I don't want my armpits to glitter either. In fact, I
use deodorant to deter my armpits from drawing attention to
themselves. I understand that Americans, as a culture, tend to be a
little leary of natural body odors in general, but this does not
justify going past the point of suppressing natural stink and well
over into the realm of cutesy fucking pixie dust. Assuming one keeps
one's body healthy and clean, odor should not be a huge problem, but
there is no level of cleanliness that naturally results in emitting
light and sparkles, and I wish the deodorant people would quit trying
to fake it. I do not want a deodorant that makes me look like I've
just been the subject of a visitation by a deity (because apart from
anything else, I lack a couple of the basic requirements that make
someone likely for that interaction). Is this taking cleanliness a bit
too close to godliness? Are we aiming to have holy pits?"
