I've been tired a lot, so have fallen behind here. A couple of updates:

[info] keith-m043 came over to fix my bathroom sink. I can now wash my hands with hot water again. *whew*

The uncomfortably cold snaps lately have, so far, been mercifully short, followed by warm fronts moving through. The heating oil I got in November ran out quite a while ago, so I'm paying a bit of attention to the weather. It's a little freaky when a warm front with a wind shift arrives in the middle of the night, so that it's way colder outdoors at sundown and opening the security door to reach the mail means icy toes from the wind coming in through the mail slot but then in the middle of the night when taking the trash out it's warmer on the sidewalk than in my kitchen.

I'm in a scary position WRT money, because I got blindsided by a large overdue bill that I'd forgoten about. I paid a bunch of stuff with the check my mother sent me for Christmas, then figured I had enough left to stock up on meds and buy groceries more fun than just the very basics and to buy the right kind of tape (a bit pricey but shouldn't take paint off the walls) for putting plastic over the windows ... and then the "bad things will happen by mid-January if you don't pay this" notice arrived and I realized I was a couple hundred dollars short. Those little extras here and there added up. This is less a case of "something unexpected and bad fell on me" and more a case of "I fucked up", but either way, I'm worried.

I'd really hoped to stock up on groceries too heavy to carry comfortably on foot, while I still had access to a car (it goes back to its owner tonight), but it doesn't look like I'll get to do that after all. :-(

And more plaster fell off the ceiling upstairs. *sigh* I need to borrow a ladder from a neighbour and see whether the leak has gotten large enough to be visible from outside, 'cause the amount of water coming in from the last very light rain was disturbing.

More later; I've got things I need to try to get done in the next couple hours. I probably won't get to 3LF rehearsal tonight, but the odds are non-zero.
