I'm not sure whether this is accurate, not being all that
skilled a mind reader, but it does jibe with my own
observations and impressions, and is a similar but slightly
less mysterious explanation for those impressions than the
explanation I'd been using ...
". . . it's not that McCain was once a decent
politician in 2000 and is a bad politician now, it's that McCain
isn't a politician of ANY kind, and never really has been. He's
not running for president to get his agenda instituted or pass
some laws. He's not even running because he wants to be in charge.
He's running because he wants to be better than daddy and grandpa,
and he thinks he DESERVES IT, the SAME DAMN REASONS as Dumbya
ran." --

In other news, I'm doing a bit better than two days ago, but
it still hurts to move. In a little while I'll try to decide
whether how I'm feeling is close enough to 'able' that I can get
the rest of the way there with enough pain meds, and if so, I'll
try to time the meds so as to get me to rehearsal. If not, I'll
just take enough to make lying down not hurt too distractingly
badly, and read about how JavaScript interacts with cookies until
I can fall asleep. (Right now, having had a routine dose of pain
meds a couple hours ago, I'm at the point where walking doesn't
hurt too badly after the first step except for occasional twinges,
but taking the first step hurts enough to produce an involuntary
gasp or grunt even if I was already standing up.) I'm considering
showing up with just recorders, if I think I can handle getting
there but not carrying the double bass.
