"Now it's all about the pop and the urban. This is the time for Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. The age of rock has gone, but you can still put on Helter Skelter for the old geezers and enjoy it. Actually, The Beatles' songs are much better than the modern songs." -- nine year old Willard, quoted in "What children think of the Beatles", by Will Hodgkinson, Times Online, 2009-09-08

From the same article (most of which describes reactions of a group of 6-8 year old children to hearing Beatles songs for the first time): "Helter Skelter inspired Charles Manson to kill people. Watching the effect it has on the children, I'm beginning to see why. Fred attempts to smash up an inflatable guitar. Rowan, Pearl and Isabella link arms and spin around until they fall down. Otto kicks over a chair. Our cat yelps and dashes up the stairs." And, after "Eleanor Rigby": "The children are uncharacteristically quiet." And from one of the comments after the article, from Llew Jones: "My ten year old daughter has listened to a wide variety of music, from Hannah Montana to Vivaldi, via Daft Punk. Her favourites? - The Beatles and Mozart"
