[Searching for this passage in an attempt to find out the context, I see many, many copies as it appears here, all attributed to Hobbes, in collections of quotations ... and a Google Books result that lacks the final sentence and is somebody quoting Diogenes talking about Epicurus. So until I'm able to find out more, consider the attribution suspect.]
