"One of the most tragic things that happened yesterday, a beautiful day, was that I was talking to a woman who said that she wouldn't want to be me for anything in the world. She wouldn't want to live today and look ahead to what it is she sees because she's afraid. Fear is always with us but we just don't have time for it. Not now." -- Hillary Rodham Cinton (then still Hillary D. Rodham), 1969, commencement speech, Wellesley College

[Unrelatedly -- today would have been my father's 85th birthday. Even after all the time I've had to get used to his being dead, I still get hit with those thoughts that stop me in my tracks for a moment: "Oh, Dad would think this is cool, I should tell ... oh, right." "Dad'll know how to fix ... oh, right." "Hey, this ties into that thing Dad and I were talking about..." etc. I know many of you -- too many -- know exactly what I'm talking about.]
