"The Epiphany story is about how God is found not at the centre of power but at the margins, not in the certainty of cultural and religious safety and conformity, but beyond the boundaries where new relationships and discoveries are made, where the elite bow down and kneel before a small child, and where refugees on the move will soon need to flee for their lives." -- Katherine Hedderley, "Pay Attention" (an Epiphany sermon)
[Yes, I know Christians look all too often toward conformity, cultural safety, and power when we should be looking at the margins and the marginalized, the wild places, and everywhere. That'd be why we need reminders like this one.]
For Western / new-calendar Orthodox Christians, to day is the feast of the Epiphany/Theophany, aka Three Kings Day. For Coptic and old-calendar Orthodox Christians, today is Christmas Eve.
