Dr. Samuel Tignore, as uoted in The Safety Myth, the third of a five-part series of articles discussing red light cameras and photo radar:

"current speed limits are set too low to be accepted as reasonable by the vast majority of drivers. Only about 1 in 10 speed zones has better than 50 percent compliance. The posted speeds make technical violators out of motorists driving at reasonable and safe speeds."

In unrelated news, no I did not make it to the dessert revel tonight. By the time I figured out that I couldn't get there in time to make it worth the drive, I'd also figured out that I really was in no shape to try anyhow. I did want to go, but fortunately had mentally prepared myself for the likelihood of my not going.
