- The HORROR of BLIMPS! (I'm still chuckling, and I read it days ago.)
- A different sort of Periodic Chart: the Table of Condiments That Periodically Go Bad belongs on geek-owned refrigerator doors. (It's been on mine for a year or so, IIRC.)
- Didn't I hear this in a filk song a while back? Explosions Are a Growing Hazard at Crematoriums
- Seeking science fiction citations for the OED: "This page is a pilot effort for the Oxford English Dictionary, in which the words associated with a special field of interest are collected so that knowledgeable aficionados can help the OED find useful examples of these words. This, our first project, is science fiction literature."
- "The first notes in the longest and slowest piece of music in history, designed to go on for 639 years, are being played on a German church organ [...] The three notes, which will last for a year- and-a-half, are just the start of the piece, called As Slow As Possible."
- Toronto Police Auctions: "Every day the Toronto Police Service Property and Evidence Management Unit acquires seized and found merchandise from across the city. Previously, this merchandise has been sold off periodically at an auction event held at a specific location." Now it's on eBay.
- Illuminated Keyboard -- the keyboard isn't what I squint at between when the sun starts to set and when I finally remember to turn on a light (I touch type), but I still think it looks cool. I wonder how bright it is. (I think a keyboard with LED or LCD keycaps would be more useful, so the markings on the keys would change when you set the keyboard to Dvorak or a non-Roman alphabet.
