A "beating the Devil" story that I'd heard a version of a long
time ago, retold by
pdcawley. I like this telling of
it. - Genetic switch for certain sexual behaviours in mice found. Doesn't seem to apply to humans, but we now know how to make bisexual mice.
- Short, shameful confession: I don't find this dress anywhere near as hideous as everyone else I've heard comment on it seems to. Outrageously cartoonish, yes. Not something I could see on the street or in an office or at most parties, but it'd be fun eye-candy at a science fiction convention! I actually like it.

utterly adorable filk- I should probably at this T-shirt to my gift-wishlist.
- This article in Wired discusses port-scanning and using foreign computers as proxy servers in order to discover other countries' censorship policies. The fact that doing so constitutes unauthorized use of someone else's computer is reflected in the title of the piece, "Does the End Justify the Means?"
- There's no way I'm going to be able to get to Fantasm, but it does sound like a fun convention.
