Escher lego is most cool, ABC thing handy though I still haven't got the hang of ABC and don't much care for same. Loved the Susan Konig essay - we pretty much live like that, with 4 sick people we know its a matter of enjoying stuff *now* and doing things when possible, also not denyone oneself the simple pleasures in life (like fancy coffee) out of some weird "save this for special occasion" ideas. Every day is special, if you make it so.
