I'm annoyed. I'm frustrated. I've got a Problem. But this is not a "the world is so unfair to me" complaint. This is my own mess, from my own carelessness, so I'm complaining about me. But I still feel a need to blow off steam, and it's my own journal, so...

I got some money for the last few gigs, and some money from my mom to deal with car stuff, and I deposited it in one of my two credit unions. Then I went to write checks and discovered that:

1. the pad of checks I was using stopped at xx80 instead of on a multiple of 25, which I'd forgotten because I hadn't used that account for a while,
2. the shelf with a box of checks on it only had checks for the other credit union, not this one (I'm still convinced that replacement checks are somewhere in the house, but I can't figure out where else I would've put them),
3. that's the account I don't have an ATM card for,
4. I have a couple of overdue bills that Really Must Get Paid Soon, and I have to pay MVA for car registration.

This sucketh mightily. And if I'd looked at the pad of checks in my purse and noticed that I only had one check left, then gone to make sure I knew where the next pad was, before deciding to deposit the money to that account instead of the other one (I had a reason for doing so, but I didn't absolutely have to), then I wouldn't be in this pickle. Instead, I noticed I was out of checks when I used the last check. (There were enough deposit slips in the back of that pad to make it feel plenty thick.)
