Happy Groundhog Day!
As
dmk
explained, this day is special to University of Dallas
students and alumni. Me, I seem to have woken up too late
to see my own shadow without any helpful libations; I'll
have to hope others made sure the groundhog got drunk enough.
(I haven't heard the results of this morning's zoomancy yet.)
So here's a happy Groundhog Day to all my current and past friends and acquaintances, and either on-time or belated Imbolc greetings depending on which day you celebrate it (I thought Imbolc was yesterday but I've seen references giving both dates). I'll be thinking of my college friends, the ones I've lost touch with as well as the ones who emailed me this morning. I failed to get cards mailed out again this year, but later I'll drink a toast to the folks I see far too seldom and the ones I never see at all anymore, especially the ones to whom this holiday is extra special.
And here's a word for something I can't afford to do today, courtesy of one of my aforementioned college buddies: "multislacking".
How odd: www.m-w.com does not list the word 'zoomancy', despite its being a pretty obvious English construction and turning up in a bunch of hits on Google.
