Having finally gotten around to telling s "music library manager" style of MP3 player (i.e. like iTunes but not) to index the music on on my file server, I clicked "shuffle" and "play". A few hours later, while I was typing or reading soething else, it played Leslie Fish (who has set quite a bit of Kippling to music over the years) singing this over a guitar, and yanked my attention right out of whatever else I'd been doing.

Google told me the original context was the Boer War. Have you already found the whole poem, or would a link be helpful? I can find it again pretty quickly.
