Yesterday I started the day with a cold. Zinc, fluids, and a lot of garlic seem to have helped -- I stopped sneezing by the time I got to our gig, and didn't fall over (though playing bass recorder for a while with a cold produces a hefty dose of dizzy). Today I woke not sneezy but dehydrated and wicked headachy. Not sure whether I'll get to 3LF tonight or not (and this week it's much more important that I get to HCB rehearsal tomorrow -- doing both would be ideal, but if I think tonight will reduce my odds of making it out the door tomorrow, I'll punt). Let's see how much the magic concoctions (well, decoctions -- basil/lavender tea, and a suspension of cocoa powder) do against this level of headache. If I don't make it to 3LF tonight, I should be there next week.

The gig went well, despite [livejournal.com profile] maugorn's absence due to injury -- I spent a lot more time on guitar than I otherwise would have. A bunch of the tunes weren't in our repertoire, so we were sight reading, and I thus discovered a couple of nifty, new-to-me tunes. But one tune really cried out for an electric guitar. Fortunately I got to bring home some sheet music.

I'd better go disinfect the bass recorder in case I do get to rehearsal tonight --if yesterday's cold really is gone already, re-infecting myself would be un-good.

Chamomile tea may also be helpful.

I doubt it, as I've never gotten any noticeable benefit from chamomile in the past (which, according to something I read a year or so after my last experiment with it, may be because I'm allergic to ragweed -- apparently chamomile isn't useful for folks with ragweed allergy). But I think I still have some in the house to experiment with, if it hasn't lost its potency by now from age.

*Hugs*. I hope you feel better soon!

I've found I have to lay off wind instruments entirely when I'm sick. Unfortunately that may not be an option for you...
