More a matter of spending enough time on hold or in a line to get a definitive answer. I've got enough left over from the car-ransom donations if it turns out we owe the twenty bucks. I had to go to the same building to get a form to show MVA that my old traffic fines had been paid, but the line for the property tax section was back and forth across the lobby and out onto the sidewalk. When I realized I had more than a day and a half to deal with it, I decided to try at the beginning of this next month instead of the very end of this one, hypothesizing that end-of-month lines are longer. I tried calling but only got a busy signal.
A bill that only comes up twice a year shouldn't be confusing -- there's plenty of time for payments to get posted and sorted out and everything, right? -- but every property-tax document I've seen regarding this house has been confusing and/or ambiguous. Mom said she'd look up when she last paid anything and how much; I'll probably get email from her in the morning.
