Mind, at one point Rohatyn was head of the MTA here in NY, and we know what a mess that has become.......

I didn't know that (nor did I know the condition of the NY MTA). Uh, are you disagreeing, or is this an "even a stopped clock is right twice a day" situation? (Either way, thanks for the bit of background on the source.)

I don't know that he's right or wrong. But people who foster bureacracy seem to think that people need and want more of the same.

When was he head of the MTA? I see where Koch wanted him on the board but he refused; but I can't find anything indicating he actually had the job.

I sit corrected. The memory is the first thign to go when you hit over 50, obviously......

Thank you for setting this straight. He was head of the Municipal Assistance Corporation, which was also a huge bureaucracy.
