My water heater sprung a leak. Eit. Having a steaming puddle expanding to attempt to consume the basement was impressive, but not in a good way. I did eventually figure out which valve shut off the intake pipe. I'm still trying to arrange repair (which includes finding out whether my mother can afford it); today I've got an appointment for a glucose tolerance test at noon, and right now I'm waiting for the thing to fill again so I can shower, and hoping I don't get too much of a mess in that amount of time before I go shut it off again. Whee. But it means I have a few minutes to type here this morning...

The odds of my being up & active & feeling perky enough to get out of the house on a Saturday morning aren't great (but a lot higher than they would have been a couple of weeks ago -- I think the beta blocker is helping, slowly, and I made it to both rehearsals this week (with help)) ...

Wait, lemme start that thought over. While the odds of my getting to this aren't great, it sounds nifty+ and I'd like to hear it if I do manage to get out (all the more so knowing firsthand the degree of skill of at least two of the musicians, the one quoted here being [livejournal.com profile] silmaril):

Tomorrow is Maryland Day, UMD's open house. The Saturday Morning Quartet, an early-baroque focused band I'm a part of, is playing in the Katherine Anne Porter Room at the Hornbake Library at 11 am. Program: four bransles and a courante from... um, someone, three sixteenth century French songs translated into English by Porter, and Vivaldi's G-minor Sonata for Two Violins or Flutes. (Or, as we adapt it, one recorder and one violin.) After you've sat through that and got bored, there's a lot of free fun stuff to do around campus all day. Just saying.
Of course, the fact that I'm rather fond of Baroque music doesn't hurt either.

Okay, the water should be hot by now. About four more hours and I'll finally be allowed to eat something.

Are you a TEP????

I found your link to eit very amusing, especially since I have met several of the people involved, and Leper (of the sad volvo experience) married one of my best friends.

Thank you for a most amusing link. (Sorry about your water heater, though.)

I learned the word from Elbows. I have found both "eit" and "pock" to be very useful words.

Glad you enjoyed the link. :-)
