I think maybe yesthattom (nonotthistom) may have been giving credit where none was due, don't you? ;)
Other than that though, yes. A bit like the thing with the Extraordinary Rendition (TM) scandal, where Ms Rice appeared on TV firmly declaring "The US does not torture its prisoners" or similar, in response to the allegations that they were shipping them out for foreigners to torture them.
