A turn of phrase that made me wonder how my various dancing friends would react to it: "While his left foot is bent in a way only veteran polka dancers are allowed to perform, James takes a moment to add some style to this minor incident."

Here's a sample of one: *heavy wince*

(The words "foot" and "bent" rarely mean anything good when put together. Note that I haven't looked at the image, and don't plan to, because I don't want a heavier wince.)

That was about what i thought -- that "are usually subjected to" made more sense than "are allowed to perform" ... (If the rider had managed to recover from the third image, dance metaphors would have made a lot more sense.)

Uh ... Whoops. I hadn't really been focusing on the motorcycle part of that, just the "someone I knew, who many of my friends knew much better, died" part. Given how many of my friends have been affected, I've gone and edited this entry so the motorcycle image won't be a surprise to the next person. Sorry about that.
