One of those days, one of those nights. I got my day started very, very slowly; took care of an errand outside the house; came back to prepare for other things, like heading to Virginia, but wound up feeling crashy; lay down for an early sleep; dozed for about an hour, and woke up again feeling not at all rested. Argh. So I figured I'd do this Tarot personality-quizmeme since I'm feeling too discombobulated for much else.

You scored as II - The High Priestess. The High Priestess is a card of intuition, instinct and hidden knowledge. She knows all your secrets, you can hide nothing from her. Yet you will never know the secrets she herself protects. If well aspected in a Tarot spread, this card can indicate the use of intuition to solve problems; trust to your instincts. If badly aspected, it can mean suppression and ignoring of such instincts - following your head at the expense of your heart.

Which Major Arcana Tarot Card Are You?
created with QuizFarm.com [then hand-tweaked because the automatically generated code itched]

Oh, wait; I have a couple more scratch files with blogmemes in them from other nights like this, that I never got around to posting...

The instructions as I found them: Bold all of the following TV shows you've seen three or more episodes of in your lifetime. Bold and italicize a show if you've seen every episode. Add up to three additional shows (please keep the list in alpha order).

[On a few of these I guessed as to whether I'd seen two episodes or three; on the ones I italicized, I think I've seen every episode that was broadcast. There are a few series I didn't mark as complete that I will have caught up on when I get through the next few stacks of videocassettes neatly arranged on the staircase.]

What struck me as odd was the number of shows I'd seen two episodes of but not thee.

This last one is just a 35-item word-association thingie (I'm not sure it'd properly be called a "test" ... how about "game"?) that I filled in a couple of weeks ago and forgot about.

The instructions, as I copied them from [livejournal.com profile] firinel:

Okay, this is called FIRST REACTION ...type what comes to your mind first whenever you hear these 35 words.. don't think and don't go back and change...doesn't matter how random just type it!

As [livejournal.com profile] firinel did, I've included the list without my own answers so anyone else who wants to play can copy the list into whatever tool you edit journal entries in, without having been contaminated by having seen my answers first. And since I prefer to cut-tag most "play along" memes ... both the empty list and my answers are in the same place, here behind the cut. So I'm going to blather on a bit in the hope that it'll create a "spoiler space" so that my answers will be off the bottom of the screen until you scroll down. You can just ignore the next couple of paragraphs -- they're just to take up space.

Creating spoiler space like this used to be very straightforward: just include twenty four blank lines, and presto -- it's guaranteed to be below the bottom of everybody's twenty-four-line computer terminals. But that was a looooong time ago. After that came personal computers and workstations with screens taller than twenty four lines ... and GUIs where you can change the font and/or the overall screen resolution so that different users with the same equipment can have very different amounts of text visible at a time. I think a lot of newsreaders and maybe some email clients honor a control-L ("formfeed") as meaning "force scrolling here by putting the next character below the bottom of the window", but since I'm writing this for the web, that ain't helpful.

Of course, being webby means that unless I stick in a bunch of <br /> tags (or <pre>, or just tell LJ to format it for me instead of doing all my own markup as I usually do), I've no way of even knowing how many lines this will be. And those seem like cheating. But I'm going to cheat anyhow, just in a different way, and set the margins of this section to be a bit narrow regardless of the size of your browser window, just to tilt the odds a wee bit in my favour here. Er ... unless you are already using a narrow window and a large font, in which case I've just done the opposite of what I meant to and I owe you an apology for the horizontal scrolling. But if that's the case then I just have to hope you heeded the "ignore these paragraphs" instruction so you aren't getting a headache from shifting the text back and forth to read the bits that fell off the right-hand edge of your screen.

I'd just stick in a tall picture, but I don't know whether anyone (well, anyone who cares) is reading this in a text browser or with image loading turned off. Anywho, this is either enough space or it isn't -- here are my answers as they popped into my head. Not very coherent or informative, but they're mine:

With two exceptions, these really are what popped into my head (or the nearest translation of my abstract emotional response into a word or noise). One exception was "wood", for which I had a completely non-verbal response (the image -- and the feel of the texture under my fingertips -- of a chunk of very dry black walnut roughly split with an axe, that cleaved along a curved fault instead of a plane. (Some of the others, as you can see, are also not really verbal but were at least spellable utterances (or would have been if I'd uttered them aloud instead of just thinking them).) The other exception was "one night stands", for which three or four related concepts jumped into my head simultaneously and there was no real "first" -- so I typed the intersection between them.

Note that contrary to the instructions, these are not what comes to mind "whenever" I hear these words; they're what came to mind the morning I wrote this. Only a few of them have any sort of consistency to them in that regard, for me. To answer what cluster of concepts generally spring to mind, I'd have to disregard a different part of the instructions, by stopping to think about my answers.

Obviously, I spent a lot more time on the layout and the babble than I did on answering the thing. It was more entertaining than tossing and turning and muttering curses under my breath ... (that was a really bad night for my legs).
