Poor cat, startled by God-knows-what, just tried to sprint straight through the ball of my foot, nose-first. (She rounded the corner and tore up the stairs just as I was reaching the bottom step.) Didn't seem to have slowed her forward progress any, but it can't have been comfortable.

Absolutely no clue what spooked her.

Do cats need a tangible reason to be spooked?

Such strange and beautiful creatures...my two seem to get spooked by rays of sunlight and dust at times. Not quite sure why. But I know I would like a life with all of the complexities of a house cat.

A friend of mine once theorized that if reincarnation is true, the highest form of life to return as is that of a pampered pet. No complexities, other than the occasional vet visit. All needs are met. All you need to do is be affectionate. I think he may have been right.
