From the Quotation of the day mailing list, 2005-10-29:

"In my administration, we will ask not only what is legal, but also what is right - not just what the lawyers allow, but what the public deserves." -- U.S. President George W. Bush, in a speech to Pittsburgh voters on October 26, 2000.

*snicker*

The guy should have been an actor. He delivered that line with a straight face and utter sincerity.

He IS an actor. Certainly, he isn't a competent president, much less a good one. For the most part, he mouths the lies told to him. On the rare occasion he says what ~he~ thinks, it disappears after one speech. [Note, for example, that he once suggested that all health care plans be required to have equal funding for both physical and mental health issues. It was never mentioned again and that one time was carefully ignored by everyone in DC.]
