I just received a postcard. It confused me at first, since this local friend is more likely to phone that write. Even more confused when I saw what city it was from, on the opposite coast. Did she very suddenly (i.e. since Tuesday) decide to take a trip she didn't tell me about? Uh, no, it was a trip I did know about ... in June. The postcard is postmarked 29 June 2006, and it just arrived this morning.

The USPS as a whole has a pretty good record. Some individual post offices and sorting centers ... not so much. I don't know where this postcard got hung up for three and a half months, but I know which way I'd bet. *sigh*

Argh. Like the time I found a whole box of letters under a box of random stuff in one of the badly kept districts.

Well, there was that postman who recently died in Brookline, MA... and they found stashes of thousands of un-delivered letters in his apartment. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Postcards are notorious for arriving home long after you return.
