Too true. Back when I was still a victim of the Prince George's County "Educational" System, I had an assignment to write a satire. I wrote one, a thinly disguised swipe at the current threatened teachers' union strike. The teacher didn't get it, marked my paper "I don't see any satire here", and gave me a poor grade. A poor choice on my part, granted, but I was in the unenviable position of choosing between taking the poor grade, or pointing out that the satire made the teachers' union look fairly stupid. Then again, the student body didn't come off very well either. In the grand tradition of satire, I insulted everybody in range.
