Oh my.
9 Chickweed Lane comic for 2007-03-11, one of the "Hallmarks of Felinity" strips [the link will stop working in about 29 days, alas, though presumably the strip will eventually show up over here]
Here's the thing: for a while after my housemate moved in, Perrine acted like she was afraid of him. (Except, as I suspected all along, when he was in the kitchen and she was hungry and I wasn't around. So I'm interpreting that as her putting on an act for my benefit.) But in the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that when we're all in the kitchen and he leaves, Perrine moves to track him with that cat stalking prey body language.
I've told her he's too big to hunt. But I don't think those are words she understands. (She knows "mouse", "bird", «viens ici», "please don't claw that", and "that's not for cats", and I think "kitchen". I'm not sure whether she understands "mine" and "hot", or just catches my tone of voice.) I'm sure there's even less chance of her understanding that it would be impolite to hunt him.
Fortunately, Perrine is more of a "swat at ankles" type, rather than being likely to nip.
