Still discovering more damage to car. Power steering reservoir is cracked and leaking. *pout*

In case no one has pointed it out to you, the guy who hit your car is still liable in civil court. So, you can file against him in small claims court. It's easy. If he doesn't show up, you get the judgement by default.

That did occur to me, and I'd been meaning to ask about it -- mainly whether I should do so right away or wait until after the criminal trial.

(Not that I have any idea yet whether the guy has any money for me to try to take from him in court. On the one hand, in this part of town it doesn't seem likely; on the other hand, he was dating someone who drove a car only a couple years old ...)
