"[...] This concept of seder is no different for kabbalistic Oreo-eating. Which should come first? A straightforward bite into the whole cookie? Should one first break apart the two sandwich halves and concentrate on the creme? One can postulate that if white represents purity and goodness, and black evil and darkness, then perhaps one should eat the white first, as an example of the yetzer hatov triumphing over the yetzer hora? Or should one save the best for last, so to speak, by first destroying, via consumptive powers, the Darkness (the cookie part) and be left only with Light (the creme)? Or perhaps, this sort of binary weltanschauung is not healthy at all it may be preferable to take the centrist position and bite into the intact cookie, representing the real-world mix of good and bad, light and dark, moderation versus extremism. [...]" -- Owain F. Carter, "The Year That Oreos Became Kosher", 2000, adapted from an earlier version of unknown origin.

If you took the seder approach, you would first tell people how they should eat their cookies, then as or after they ate, include "X says we should eat the whole cookie together because... but Y teaches that the cookie should be separated, to signify..."

There could be a whole gemara of oreo eating: masechet (tractate) ugiah. Where did you find this great quote. I must steal and post it.

Ha.

Actually I do eat my Oreos creme-first, but that's because I don't really like the creme part so I'm getting it out of the way so I can enjoy the outsides... ah, how very Puritan and un-Taoist of me. :)

I'd like to see someone eat an Oreo by starting with the cookie part and ending with the creme. Sounds messy.

A knife or spatula helps.

I used to do that all the time when I was a kid. Unless they've substantially changed the texture of the creme bit in the sixteen years since I stopped eating Oreos (for dairy-related reasons), you can absolutely stick the tip of your finger under the creme bit, pry it up, and hold onto it (between the two fingertips of your one hand). Most of the time, it should even come up in one piece. Then you eat the cookie parts and after you're done, you put the whole creme part in your mouth and let it slowly dissolve (your teeth).

If one sees the cookie as good and evil, why should one eat the evil at all?
Considering that the cream is fat and sugar, wouldn't it be the (nutritionally) evil part?
