Dear Perrine,

I know it says "press F1 for help", but falling asleep with your chin on the F1 key and launching a couple hundred copies of Gnome Help Viewer is not, in fact, helpful. I'm still trying to close all these windows, and the machine has slowed to a crawl.

Also, oh mighty huntress, I see that rolls of toilet paper everywhere need fear thy mighty fangs and powerful claws. Those are some impressively deep bite marks. But look, sometimes I do have to sleep when you want to play, and I'd appreciate your picking something already designated as a cat toy to beat up on when you're bored.

(Closing windows got a lot faster once I'd whittled the number of Help processes running down to about 40.)

does your OS have the "pkill" command on the command line?

Yes, but I was not familiar with that command until about thirty seconds ago, after I read your comment.

I'd tried using 'killall', but that was not quite as useful as 'pkill' would have been. Especially since 'ps' took so long to run (just bringing an already open terminal window to the foreground took forever; then I had to wait for it to respond to keystrokes and for 'ps' to show me the process names). But 'kill' wasn't 100% effective -- apparently there were more helps waiting (lurking in a keystroke buffer or something?) to be launched, so I got a fresh crop as soon as the first batch closed.

Perrine's been getting better about not walking on the keys, but lately seems more and more inclined to use it as a pillow.

She likes to rest her head on things? Sammy does that. Often my wrist.

Remember when Katish got you to hold up her food bowl for her? I see you're still
well trained re: grooming brush. Good human.

Jenny's favorite place, now that the tall bookcase is down? The top of the tall piano. Simba's favorite place? The piece of slate temporarily holding down part of the ripped-up rug. Cats are weird.

I feel your pain, brother. Our cats also are fond of shredding our TP rolls, which is why I am still looking for some sort of cover for the wall roll holder and stashing the paper in the cabinet meanwhile. Ari, our humongous orange tabby, also likes to park his tremendous furry weight on my laptop's keyboard anytime I make the mistake of leaving it open where he can get at it. Fortunately, though, he hasn't triggered any Windows mayhem...yet.
