My dad's friend had a Jag. It was great. It *actually* spent more time in the shop over the 2-3 years he owned it than on the street. And you had to go through the glovebox to get to the last spark plug.
A neighbour got a Jag when I was a kid. That was when I first heard the advice sjo repeated below, which was what I meant be "reputation for needing frequent maintenance".
