I hate one particular idiom: "Eating healthy." No. It's eating HEALTHFULLY, damn it.

The trickiest part about driving safe is cornering -- those things steer like steel bricks. Oh, wait, they are.

Hearing "Drive safe!" causes me to:

1) wince at the grammar.

2) want to immediately do something reckless-looking just to unnerve whoever said it to me.

3) wonder what the hell else they think I would try to do. Are they imugning my driving habits/abilities?

4) hope that all the other people on the same roads as I'm on do so, and worry that they might not.

5) bet that his girlfriend like as not said it to the guy who crashed her mother's car into 4 cars in one sloppy k-turn, including yours.

6) *snort*

So what's wrong with "Fare safely (or "well")."? This even takes automotive malfunctions into account. How about "Get home (or "there") in one piece."? (mutters irritably) "Drive safe." indeed. Yeesh!
