[Just in case somebody decides to make a fish-flavoured ice cream at Baitcon...]

From the Quotation of the day mailing list, 2005-12-29:

"Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk." -- Henry David Thoreau, from his Journal (c. November 11-14, 1850), on a dairyman's strike, when there was suspicion of milk being watered down.

What a fun quote!

My Frederick sister and I were just talking about Thoreau tonight -- I like "Heaven is beneath our feet as well as over our heads", and she likes "Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify."
