I had a television-induced earworm earlier, and had lines like, "he'll fly his astral plane," floating through my brain, all because of not being able to remember the song that I should have been reminded of.

I was about to post that it looked like I'd be missing RenFest entirely this year due to a combination of financial and scheduling obstacles. I just got a text message that changes one side of that; now to figure out whether I can manage the other half.

The last two days, I have gotten enough sleep! But I've goten it at really, really inconvenient times (and yesterday pain at the needs-codeine level meant undoing some of that sleep benefit with the caffeine in the codeine tablets, but I was still ahead of where I'd been most of the week). Now if I can finish all the stuff that needs to Be Done Now and fall asleep during the nighttime tonight, maybe the weekend will look do-able after all.

I spent way too long last night beating my head against ought-to-be-trivial audio-output problems that crop up whenever I reboot. I've got something tangled up in the configuration on this box and I'm not sure how I managed to do that (I also have to log in as root and change a bunch of permissions in the /dev directory before I can log in as myself after a reboot). None of my other Linux machines have issues like this.

My GJ is under sttack from a spambot (or a zombie army -- several IP addresses are involved). I finally set it to default to screening anonymous comments (as I'd already had to do on LJ).

"Legend of a Mind," Moody Blues. If that helps.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten the title but remembered the artist and most of the lyrics ... the problem was not remembering anything at all except the title of the Bauhaus tune that it would have made more sense to be earwormed by, and getting the Moody Blues as a substitute.

(The show I was watching was Supernatural.)

well there's also that matter of it being one of the rare few pop songs where the title is not part of the lyrics.

Funny, I was thinking of "My Karma Broke Down" by Three Weird Sisters: "I can't get a ticket on the astral plane"...

Bauhaus song? The Moody Blues and Bauhaus are two bands I'd never put together.

Ah, the joys of unnatural pairings ...

It was wonderful seeing you yesterday. I always knew you were talented; it was even nicer having it confirmed like that.
