How much help would you need to acquire a workable car? Or is there accessible zipcar in baltimore? then you woudn't need to pay insurance...

The last time I looked, the nearest Zipcar was a two-transfer bus ride away. But I'm supposed to have a minivan "soon". (Pro: easy to get the bass into; Con: worried about fuel economy, how much of a theft target it is, and maintenance history.)

Hm. Can you find something with better fuel economy for most of the time, then bum the occasional ride for the bass?

But a van is indeed better than nothing...
