Actually, I think it's the "tuck self into small spot" syndrome. If she sleeps between your legs, or against the bend of your knee/ankle it may be that.
maru_mari's cat prefers to sleep on my pillow, whether or not my head is there. If she can't, she will march back and forth on the head of the bed tickling my nose with her tail and sticking her butt in my face.
This is why we close the door.
