This reminds me of the time I talked with a man who, as far as I can tell, was using black Christianity (sorry, I don't know what kind, but he had some interesting bible verses which suggested that some of exodus-era Jews were black-- or maybe they ended up in Africa-- I can't remember which). In any case, everything about his religion reminded him of something else about his religion. I'm actually a little fond of anyone who knows that 'J' is a relatively recent letter (part of what he said about Jehovah), but when I mentioned that Christianity has something to do with helping poor people, he slipped off into a rant about the power of God. Not that the poor were entirely God's responsibility or anything like that, just (as far as I can tell) that he didn't want to hear that his religion might oblige him to do something.
I was too polite to tell him he had a hobby, not a religion.
