Macro Photography Is Easier When The Subject Doesn't Cheat

Dear Spider In My Bedroom,

Thank you for confirming my suspicion than you are a spider-who-hunts-by-leaping, rather than a spider-who-traps-prey-in-webs, but I do have a complaint.

Leaping onto the barrel of my lens while I am trying to take your photograph is cheating. Get your eight hairy legs back out in front of the lens where you belong, you obstinate arachnid!

Hmph!

Jumping spiders! I love them. The are cute and adorable.

I like the fact that they are very bold little critters and will threaten you, holding front legs up to look menacing.

They tend to run away when you laugh at them.

When I'm looking through the viewfinder and a macro lens, those front legs do look pretty menacing!

cute and adorable? Tiny and scary! I hate trying to trap them to escort them out of the house and having them jump in unexpected directions.

I didn't know that one so I had to Google it. TMBG, huh? I would have guessed Shonen Knife. (I'm still having trouble resetting my imagination to hear it in TMBG's voices instead of Shonen Knife's. I guess I'll have to find an MP3.)
