The other day we were discussing Psalm 37:25 ("I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread."), RSV) and I mentioned how I've heard it used to support the idea that poor people are getting just what God says they deserve, and material success is proof of righteousness. This reminded me of that (hence my mentioning it).
