While I was out earlier, I was startled at one point to notice an empty space where I expected to see a horse.

A moment later a different thought struck me: "This is the XXIst Century and I am driving through a city, and it's the absence of a horse that I notice as strange?" Ahh, Baltimore.

Hmm. Then again, in a post-peak-oil scenario, perhaps horses will start being more generally useful within cities again ...?

[Context: an arabber's cart at a streetcorner in north Baltimore.]

A short time later, I passed a billboard promoting abstinance for teens, that I'd seen before and know what it's trying to say, but this time it finally sank in what felt funny about the phrasing.

The billboard says, "Sex can wait. Your future can't." Except that the future has to wait because by definition it isn't here yet.

[As I said, I know what they meant. That's not the point. The point, at the moment, is completely gratuitous snarking about semantics.]

When I got home I felt so drained that I didn't want to get out of the driver's seat, because then I'd have to go up the few stairs to my front door, and up another flight of stairs to my bed, before I could collapse again. It hasn't really been that tiring of a day; the problem is that I started out with almost no spoons to start out with. And discovering that the stage I was hoping to complete today of a particular project isn't over yet after all (more research to do, maybe more testing) kinda weighed me down in the seat a little heavier.

So I decided I needed food and rest more than I needed to start yet another project that I'd been considering working on this evening.

After making that time-lapse cloud video, I've been thinking that I should play with stop-motion animation. But most of the ideas I've had for videos to make that way have been distinctly Jittlovian, which means they (well, things too similar anyhow) have already been done better than I'll be able to. I need a different batch of ideas. (I'm sure the ideas will come. Perhaps I should go ahead and shoot some of the ones I feel are too derivative artistically anyhow, just for practice in the techniques. But I should wait until I have fewer other projects on my plate.
