Will it take you as long to see The 7 Samurai*?

*(that's the original)

I hope it doesn't take as long to get around to that one, but I have a history of taking a really really long time to get to movies on my want-to-watch-these list. As I mentioned, I do want to see Seven Samurai now -- I was mildly curious about it before, but now that I've seen the western remake of it, I'm very interested in seeing the original.

(I've seen it listed as Seven Samurai, The Seven Samurai, The 7 Samurai, Shichinin no samurai, and Shichi-nin no samurai ... all for the 1954 version, and I also see references to a 2009 Seven Samurai film that I'm guessing is a remake though I haven't checked. At the moment, I'm mostly interested in seeing the 1954 one.)

I know no 2009 version of Seven Samurai; the nearest thing might be a recent steampunk anime that I haven't seen. I have seen both the original and The Magnificent Seven, and just recently made a double feature of Yojimbo and Sanjuro (but have *not* seen the Dollars movies), which, though perhaps somewhat lighter fare, are also very good. Then there's Hidden Fortress, alleged inspiration for Star Wars--I suspect George Lucas thinks citing that (and Joseph Campbell) sounds better than admitting to the comic book influences....

(This is Eric, taking this time to also ask you to write back regarding more serious matters.)
