It smells, sounds, and feels as though a thunderstorm approacheth, so I went to a window to see whether the sky was doing anything especially photogenic. When I looked east, toward the downtown skyline, a helicopter was just lifting off from the helipad atop the UM Medical Center. And just at that same moment, a semi making its way up Lombard St. but still completely hitten by the trees, revved its engine to start up the gentle hill from a stoplight, the sound of the truck being perfectly synchronized with the sight of the ascending whirlybird.
I am amused. Despite the fact that the semi wasn't supposed to be on Lombard in the first place (there are signs saying, "no trucks over 3/4 ton"), I am amused.
A few seconds later, and the truck had emerged from the obscuring trees and the helicopter had circled out of sight, hidden by buldings.
