I like Barney Frank more and more--at least, as a person, I have no idea what his politics are, beyond this sort of public beatdown.

Aren't there still crimes on the books in some southern state(s) where 2 adults doing something consensual that isn't hurting either of them, in the privacy of their own home, is an arrestible offense?

(apparently I recall a time where police entered a private home on suspicion of another crime occurring, saw 2 people of the same sex doing something, and arrested them).

I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Bowers v. Hardwick (1986), which boggled and infuriated so many of us, later overturned in Lawrence v. Texas (2003). Quoting Wikipedia: "Lawrence has the effect of invalidating similar laws throughout the United States that purport to criminalize sodomy between consenting same-sex adults acting in private. It also invalidated the application of sodomy laws to heterosexual sex." So the crimes may be (probably are) still on the books, but no longer enforceable as I understand it. So if I've got the right end of it, you'd be technically right but practically wrong ... and only wrong as of as recently as six years ago.

And then there are the laws regarding ownership of too many dildos ...
