[From fairly deep in a thread that started with the usual (disproven) "being polite is always more effective" claim and went on to what people deserve/should expect.] "When you are intolerably rude to others, accept that you have no protection from those others being intolerably rude to you. A couple more bits of context: 1) in the preceeding paragraph, [info] zoeiona reminded, "Society's taboo against anger works very well as a tool of control against people whose anger is justified: 'you should not be so angry' is the response, as opposed to 'I should not speak and behave in a racist way'." And 2), here's a link to the comment this was in response to.

Attacking someone's tone in an argument is essentially an "ad hominem" rhetorical fallacy.

"There is something wrong with YOU (your tone), THEREFORE-
your point is flawed".

Was poppycock. Is poppycock. Always will be poppycock.

Tone and point are two different items.
